Metro Bangalore is a joint project of the governments of India and Karnataka. It is a Special Purpose Vehicle in charge of implementing the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. Aside from this, the Namma Metro is a significant environmentally friendly addition to Bengaluru City because it helps cut carbon pollution by a significant amount. Bangalore Metro, which people call Namma Metro ("our metro" in the Kannada language), serves Bangalore, India's IT capital.
At the moment, only Phase 1 of the network is working. Phase 2 is being built, and Phase 3 is being thought about. The network has 51 stops and is spread out over 42 3 km. More than 5 million people use the subway every day. The third rail, which has a straight current of 750 volts, is how the trains get their power. The trains come every 5–15 minutes at under 80km/h. Trains with six cars move on the ground on these routes. The body in charge of the Metro Bangalore recently asked for bids for Bangalore metro buses. Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) came in with the lowest price. Phase 2B (Blue Line, Whitefield to KR Puram) will get 318 coaches, the Blue Line (Central Silk Board to KR Puram) will get 96 coaches, and the Pink Line will get 96 teachers.
Here are some essential facts about the Metro Bangalore, which is also called the Namma Metro:
There are many lines on the Bangalore Metro right now, with 51 operating stops. Some subway lines are being built, and some more are being planned. The Bangalore Namma Metro Purple Line is running right now. Currently, two metro lines with 51 stops are running in Bangalore. The Purple and Green lines are the names of these two lines.
In October 2011, Bangalore Namma Metro purple line started running from Baiyyappanahalli in the east to the Mysore Road exit stop in the southwest. The line goes for 18.1 km and stops at 17 different places. It goes underground for 4.8 km in places like MG Road, Majestic, etc.
The Bangalore Metro Green Line opened in March 2014 and goes from northwest Nagasandra to southwest Anjanapura. The distance between these two places is 30 km, and there are 30 stops along the way. The Bangalore Metro Green Line is above ground and only goes underground for four kilometers and three stops. The last time it was extended was in January 2021, and it is now being extended for 33.5 km to Madavara and Silk Institute in the south.
In the Bangalore Metro Phase 1, two lines totaling 42 km and 40 stops. Only 8 km of these 40 stops are underground, while 36 km are above ground. Bangalore Metro Phase 1 began in 2007 between Baiyyappanahalli and MG Road. Later, the phrase grew to include Yeshwanthpur, Nagasandra, and Yelachenahalli from Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road.
Bangalore Metro Phase 2 goes for 72 km and has 62 stops. 13 km of these 72 km are underground, and the rest are above ground. In 2014, the Union government agreed to this step. The Bangalore Metro Phase 2 is just a continuation in both directions of two lines from the first phase.
On Kanakapura Road, the second line is stretched from Yelachenahalli to Anjanapura, and on Tumkur Road, it goes from Nagasandra to Madavara, which used to be called BIEC. From Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield and from Mysore Road to Challaghatta via Kengeri, the Purple Line is stretched. About Rs 32,000 crores will be spent on the addition.
